    - New Treatment Guidelines for Lyme Disease
    The International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS) has published new guidelines for diagnosing and treating Lyme disease, to help physicians combat the fastest growing vector-borne disease in the United States.
    - The Bowen Institute's Diagnostic Test for Lyme Disease:
    Bowen Research & Training Institute, Inc. has developed a research project to identify the presence of the Borrelia burgdorferi (Bb) antigen, the causative agent of Lyme disease. Bb is difficult to detect by most laboratory methods in use today. Through our research we have developed a new test, the "Rapid Identification of Borrelia burgdorferi" (RIBb). The Bb antigen is identified by the presence of fluorescing structures upon microscopy.

    It all started back on a hot day back in 1998, when Tina Jolly, 45, felt a numbness in her arms and legs. Eventually a prickly sensation invaded her feet and exhaustion swept through her body, so she decided it was now time to seek help.
    - Researchers Identify Protein Crucial for Survival of Lyme-Disease Bacterium
    When the tick-borne bacterium that causes Lyme disease lacks a specific protein that responds to an incoming meal of blood, it is unable to be transmitted from the tick to a new animal host, researchers at UT Southwestern Medical Center have found.
